Description

Reagent for iron determinations.2,2'-bipyridine acts as a bidentate chelating ligand which form complexes with transition metal ions and shows antifungal, antibacterial and antiviral activity. It is used for the colorimetric determination of iron as well as oxidation reduction indicators to confirm the presence of ferrous ion in soils. It forms complexes with ruthenium and platinum, exhibit intense luminescence, which may have practical applications. Copper(I) bipyridine complexes involved in the oxidation of alcohols under aerobic conditions.

Anwendungen
Das Reagenz für Eisenbestimmungen .2,2′-Bipyridin fungiert als zweizähniger Chelatligand, der Komplexe mit Übergangsmetallionen bildet und antimykotische, antibakterielle und antivirale Aktivität zeigt. Es dient zur kolorimetrischen Bestimmung von Eisen sowie als Redoxindikator zur Bestätigung des Vorhandenseins von eisenhaltigem Ion in Böden. Es bildet Komplexe mit Ruthenium und Platin und weist eine intensive Lumineszenz auf, die sich möglicherweise für praktische Anwendungen eignet. Kupfer(I)-Bipyridin-Komplexe, die an der Oxidation von Alkoholen unter aeroben Bedingungen beteiligt sind.

Löslich in organischen Lösungsmitteln und bis zu einem gewissen Grad löslich in Wasser.
