Anwendungen
4Alpha-Phorbol-12-myristat-13-acetat ist ein nicht-tumorförderndes Phorbolester-Derivat, das als Negativkontrolle für PMA, einen Tumorförderer und Aktivator von PKC, verwendet wurde. Es hat sich jedoch gezeigt, dass 4α-PMA auch ein einigermaßen potenter Aktivator von TRPV4-Kanälen ist, was es zu einem nützlichen Werkzeug für Struktur-Aktivität-Untersuchungen über einen Vergleich mit der sehr ähnlichen Verbindung 4α-PDD macht, das 50 Mal mehr Affinität für TRPV4 aufweist. Darüber hinaus hat sich gezeigt, dass diese Verbindung die PGHS-2-mRNA in murinen Keratinozyten signifikant erhöht.
