5-Hexen-1-ol is used in cyclization to a tetrahydropyran by phenylselenoetherification. It is also used as a building block in synthetic chemistry. Further, it is used to prepare 6-bromo-hex-1-ene by reaction with phosphorus tribromide.

Anwendungen
5-Hexen-1-ol wird bei der Zyklisierung zu einem Tetrahydropyran durch Phenylselenoetherifikation verwendet. Es wird auch als Baustein in der synthetischen Chemie verwendet. Darüber hinaus wird es zur Vorbereitung 6 von -Bromo-hex-1-en durch Reaktion mit Phosphor-Tribromid verwendet.
