Acetone-1,3-dicarboxylic acid is used as a building block in organic chemistry. It is also used in the synthesis of hetrocyclic rings and in the Weiss-Cook reaction, which involves the preparation of cis-bicyclo[3.3.0]octane-3,7-dione by reacting with diacyl (1,2 ketone). Its presence in human urine is used as a diagnostic test for the overgrowth of harmful gut flora such as Candida albicans.

Aceton-1,3-Dicarbonsäure wird als Baustein in der organischen Chemie verwendet. Wird auch bei der Synthese von Hetrozyklus-Ringen und bei der Weiss-Cook-Reaktion verwendet, bei der cis-bizyklo[3.3.0 ]Oktan-3,7-Dion durch Reaktion mit Diacyl-(1,2-Keton) hergestellt wird. Das Vorhandensein im menschlichen Urin wird als Diagnosetest für das Überwachstum der schädlichen Darmflora wie Candida albicans verwendet.
Löslichkeit
Löslich in Wasser und Alkohol. Schwer löslich in Ethylacetat und Äther. Nicht in Chloroform löslich.
