PA1-24413 detects Acetyl-CoA Acetyltransferase (ACAT2) in human samples. PA1-24413 has been successfully used in Western blot and immunohistochemistry (paraffin) procedures. The PA1-24413 immunogen is a synthetic peptide corresponding to a region of human ACAT2. Store product as a concentrated solution. Centrifuge briefly prior to opening the vial. For short-term storage (1-2 weeks), product can be stored at 4°C. For long-term storage, aliquot and store product at -20° C or below, avioiding multiple freeze-thaw cycles.

Acetyl-Coenzyme A acetyltransferase 2 is an enzyme involved in lipid metabolism. Reported patients with ACAT2 deficiency have shown severe mental retardation and hypotonus. The ACAT2 gene shows complementary overlapping with the 3-prime region of the TCP1 gene in both mouse and human. These genes are encoded on opposite strands of DNA, as well as in opposite transcriptional orientation.
