Beschreibung

Methanesulfonyl chloride is used as a reagent for conversion of alcohols to mesylate esters such as methanesulfonate, which is an intermediate in substitution reactions, elimination reactions, reductions, and rearrangement reactions viz. Beckmann rearrangement. It is an electrophile and acts as a source of CH3SO2+ group. It is also used to prepare beta-chloro sulfones, methanesulfonamide and heterocyclic compounds containing five membered sultones.

Anwendungen
Methansulfonylchlorid wird als Reagenz für die Umwandlung von Alkoholen in Mesylatester wie Methansulfonat verwendet, das ein Zwischenprodukt bei Substitutionsreaktionen, Eliminierungsreaktionen, Reduktionen und Reorganisationsreaktionen ist, z. B. Beckmann Rearrangement. Ist ein Elektrophil und dient als Quelle der CH3SO2+-Gruppe. Wird auch zur Herstellung von Beta-Chlor-Sulfonen, Methansulfonamid und heterocyclischen Verbindungen mit fünf memberierten Sultonen verwendet.

Löslichkeit
Mischbar mit Alkohol, Ether und organischen Lösungsmitteln. Nicht mit Wasser mischbar.

Hinweise
Feuchtigkeitsempfindlich. Kühl lagern. Inkompatibel mit starken Basen, Oxidationsmitteln und Alkoholen. Ist ein Reizstoff und reagiert mit Wasser.
