It is also used in the textile industry as a bleaching and desulfurizing agent and as a dechlorinating agent in chemical photography for toning black and white photographs as well as metals precipitant. It plays an important role as a sulfonation and sulfomethylation agent in the chemical industry and in the production of rubber chemicals, sulfur dyes and other chemical compounds.
