Beschreibung
AnwendungenToluol wird als Lösungsmittel für Farben, Farbverdünner, Silikondichtmittel, viele chemische Reaktionsprodukte, Gummi, Druckfarbe, Klebstoffe (Leime), Lacke, Ledergerb- und Desinfektionsmittel verwendet. Wichtiger Rohstoff für die Synthese von Pharmazeutika, Farben, Harzen, Farbstoffen, Toluol-Diisocyanat und Sprengstoffen wie Trinitrotoluol. Kommt als Standardsubstanz für die Chromatographie und als analytisches Reagenz zum Einsatz. Spielt eine wichtige Rolle bei der Herstellung von Benzol, Xylol, Phenol, Polyurethan-Polymeren, Kosmetika und Kraftstoffgemischen. Findet Anwendung als Kraftstoffzusatz zur Erhöhung der Oktanzahl und wegen seiner guten Wärmeübertragungsfähigkeit als Kühlmittel in Natriumkaltfallen, die in Kernreaktor-Systemkreisläufen zum Einsatz kommen.
Löslichkeit
Mit Ethanol, Benzol, Diethylether, Aceton, Chloroform, Eisessigsäure und Kohlenstoffdisulfid mischbar. Nicht mit Wasser mischbar.
Hinweise
Nicht kompatibel mit starken Oxidationsmitteln.
