Beschreibung

1,1,2,2-Tetrachloroethane is used in the preparation of organic chemicals, as a solvent for fats, oils, waxes, resins, cellulose acetate and in certain types of Friedel-Crafts reactions. It is also used to make paints, varnishes, rust removers and other chlorinated hydrocarbons with two carbon atoms. It is utilized in the determination of theobromine in cacao. It is also used as an immersion fluid in crystallography. Further, it is used as an alcohol denaturant, fumigant, dry cleaning agent, in photographic film. In addition to this, it is used as an intermediate in the industrial production of trichloroethylene, tetrachloroethylene and1,2-dichloroethylene.

Anwendungen
1,1,2,2-Tetrachlorethan wird bei der Herstellung organischer Chemikalien, als Lösungsmittel für Fette, Öle, Wachse, Harze, Celluloseacetat und bei bestimmten Arten von Friedel-Crafts-Reaktionen verwendet. Es wird auch zur Herstellung von Farben, Lacken, Rostentfernern und anderen chlorierten Kohlenwasserstoffen mit zwei Kohlenstoffatomen verwendet. Es wird bei der Bestimmung von Theobromin in Kakao eingesetzt. Es wird auch als Immersionsflüssigkeit in der Kristallographie verwendet. Darüber hinaus wird es als Alkohol-Vergällungsmittel, Räuchermittel, Trockenreinigungsmittel und in fotografischen Filmen verwendet. Außerdem wird es als Zwischenprodukt in der industriellen Produktion von Trichlorethylen, Tetrachlorethylen und1,2-Dichlorethylen verwendet.

Löslichkeit
Mischbar mit Wasser, Methanol, Ethanol, Chloroform und Aceton.

Hinweise
Nicht kompatibel mit starken Oxidationsmitteln, Natrium, Natriumoxiden, starken Basen, Kalium, Nitraten, 2,4-Dinitrophenyldisulfid.
