Anwendungen
1-Octadecylamin wird als Asphalt-Emulgator, Schmierstoff und Dispergiermittel verwendet. Es dient als kationisches Tensid und wird für Basen in Haarspülungen sowie für Holzkonservierungsmittel, Textilweichmacher, Färbereihilfsmittel und Pigmentschleifmittel verwendet. Es wird als Additiv für Heizkessel verwendet, um die Korrosion durch Dampf zu verhindern. Es ist ein Grundbaustein und wird als Zwischenprodukt bei der Herstellung der Amin-Derivate, Ethoxylate und Amide verwendet. Metalloxid-Nanokristalle mit kontrollierter Größe und Form werden durch die thermische Zersetzung von Metallnitraten mit Otadecylamin hergestellt.

Löslichkeit
Löslich in Chloroform, Alkohol, Ether, Benzol und Aceton. Unlöslich in Wasser.

Hinweise
Nicht kompatibel mit Säuren, sauren Chloriden, sauren Anhydriden und Oxidationsmitteln.
