1-Pentene is used in the preparation of d-xylitol, l-arabinitol and hydrazones of substituted salicylaldehydes. It is also used as a blending agent for of high-octane gasoline. It reacts with p-toluenesulfinate to yield 1-(2-iodo-pentane-1-sulfonyl)-4-methyl-benzene. It is also involved in Gas Chromatography and Liquid Chromatography analysis.

1-Pentol wird bei der Herstellung von d-Xylitol, l-Arabinitol und Hydrazonen von substituierten Salicylaldehyden verwendet. Wird auch als Mischmittel für Benzin mit hoher Oktanzahl verwendet. Reagiert mit p-Toluensulfinat zu 1-(2-Iodo-Pentan-1-Sulfonyl)-4-Methyl-Benzol. Ist auch an der Gaschromatographie und der Flüssigchromatographie-Analyse beteiligt.
Löslichkeit
Mischbar mit Ethanol, Ethylether, Benzol und organischen Lösungsmitteln. Nicht mit Wasser mischbar.
Hinweise
Nicht kompatibel mit starken Oxidationsmitteln, Reduktionsmitteln, Halogenen und Säuren.
