2-Ketoglutaric acid is used as an intermediate in the kreb’s cycle catalyzed by glutamate dehydrogenase enzyme on glutamate. It is also used in dietary supplements to improve protein synthesis.

Anwendungen
2-Ketoglutarsäure wird als Zwischenprodukt im Kreb-Zyklus verwendet, der durch Glutamat-Dehydrogenase-Enzym auf Glutamat katalysiert wird. Es wird auch in Nahrungsergänzungsmitteln zur Verbesserung der Proteinsynthese verwendet.

Löslich in Wasser, Methanol und Dimethylsulfoxid.
