6-Methyl-2-thiouracil is mainly used in surgical preparation of mild hyperthyroidism, thyroid storm, hyperthyroidism and postoperative treatment. It is used in the treatment of hyperthyroidism. It is used as a drug, which is applied to decrease the formation of stored thyroid hormone and thyroglobulin in the thyroid gland.

Anwendungen
6-Methyl-2-thiouracil wird hauptsächlich zur chirurgischen Behandlung von leichter Hyperthyreose, thyreotoxischer Krise und Hyperthyreose und zur postoperativen Behandlung verwendet. Wird bei der Behandlung einer Hyperthyreose eingesetzt. Verringert als Medikament die Bildung von gespeichertem Schilddrüsenhormon und Thyreoglobulin in der Schilddrüse.

Löslichkeit
Löslich in Ethanol. Schwer löslich in Methanol, Aceton, Diethylether, Wasser, Ammoniak und Alkalihydroxiden. Unlöslich in Benzol und Chloroform.

Hinweise
Lichtempfindlich. Nicht kompatibel mit starken Oxidationsmitteln. Den Behälter dicht verschlossen halten.
