MA5-12111 targets Serotonin in IHC (P) applications and shows reactivity with Human samples. The MA5-12111 immunogen is 5-Hydroxytryptamine hydrochloride (3-(2-aminoethyl)-5-hydroxyindole;serotonin).
Serotonin (also known as 5-hydroxytryptamne or 5-HT) is a biochemical messenger and neurotransmitter synthesized from L-tryptophan. Serotonin has a range of functions, including regulation of gastric motility, and may be related to some psychiatric disorders including schizophrenia and depression. Serotoinin is widely distributed in the central and peripheral nervous system, and also in some non-nueral tissues such as platelets.
