Description
Barium hydroxide octahydrate has been used in the centromeric heterochromatin banding technnique and to synthesize BaTiO3. The form Barium hydroxide was reported to catalyze the rate of β elimination of phosphoserine residues. It is also used as a general purpose additive for lubricants and greases, sugar fabrication, manufacturing soaps, fat saponification and chemical synthesis of other barium compounds.

Bariumhydroxid-Oktahydrat wurde in der zentromeren Heterochromatin-Banding-Technologie und zur Synthese von BaTiO3 verwendet. Es wurde berichtet, dass die Form Bariumhydroxid die Rate der β Beseitigung von Phosphoserin-Rückständen zu katalysieren. Es wird auch als Universalzusatz für Schmierstoffe und Fette, für die Zuckerherstellung, Herstellung von Seifen, zur Fettverseifung und chemische Synthese anderer Bariumverbindungen verwendet.
Löslichkeit
Löslich in Wasser (72 mg/ml bei 20 °C), Methanol, Ethanol (schwer) und Wasser (56 mg/ml bei 15 °C). Unlöslich in Aceton (praktisch)
Hinweise
Luftempfindlich. Kühl und trocken in dicht verschlossenen Behältern lagern. Mit guter Belüftung. Nicht in der Nähe von Luft und Oxidationsmitteln lagern.
