Description
Benzoin is used as a flavor, antiseptic and photopolymerization catalyst. It is also used as a raw material in organic syntheses. It serves as a precursor to benzil, which is a photoinitiator. Further, it is used as degassing agent for powder coatings. In addition to this, it is used as an additive and in powder coating to remove the pinhole phenomenon.

Benzoin wird als Aroma-, Antiseptik- und Photopolymerisationskatalysator verwendet. Wird auch als Rohstoff in organischen Synthesen verwendet. Dient als Vorläufer von Benzil, dem Photoinitiator. Wird darüber hinaus als Entgasungsmittel für Pulverbeschichtungen verwendet. Wird darüber hinaus als Additiv und in Pulverbeschichtung zur Entfernung des Lochreihenphänomens verwendet.
Löslichkeit
In Chlor löslich. Schwer löslich in Wasser, Ethanol und Äther.
Hinweise
Feuchtigkeitsempfindlich. Nicht kompatibel mit Säuren, sauren Anhydriden, sauren Chloriden und starken Oxidationsmitteln.
