Bromocresol Green sodium salt is used as a pH indicator. It is a pH sensitive triphenylmethane dye useful in various colorimetric detection studies and as an activity tracking dye for DNA agarose gel electrophoresis. It is also used in TLC (thin-layer chromatography) for visualizing compounds containing functional groups having pKa less than 5.

Anwendungen
Bromkresolgrün Natriumsalz wird als pH-Indikator verwendet. Es handelt sich um einen pH-empfindlichen Triphenylmethanfarbstoff, der in verschiedenen kolorimetrischen Nachweisstudien und als Aktivitätsverfolgungsfarbstoff in der DNA-Agarose-Gelelektrophorese nützlich ist. Es wird auch in der TLC (Dünnschichtchromatographie) zur Visualisierung von Verbindungen verwendet, die funktionelle Gruppen mit einem pKa weniger als 5 enthalten.

Löslich in Wasser und Ethanol.

Hinweise
Übergangsintervall: pH 3.8 (gelb) bis pH 5.4 (blau). Nicht kompatibel mit starken Oxidationsmitteln.
