Bromoethane is used in organic synthesis for the introduction of ethyl group. It is widely used as solvent, as an anesthetic in medicine and as a refrigerant. It is an important component of antiknock fluid in gasoline. It is also also used in the manufacture of pharmaceuticals like vitamin A as well as in the manufacture of flame retardants.

Anwendungen
Bromethan wird in der organischen Synthese für die Einführung der Ethylgruppe verwendet. Es wird häufig als Lösungsmittel, als Anästhetikum in der Medizin und als Kältemittel verwendet. Es ist ein wichtiger Bestandteil des Antiklopfmittels in Benzin. Es wird auch bei der Herstellung von Pharmazeutika wie Vitamin A sowie bei der Herstellung von Flammschutzmitteln verwendet.

Hinweise
Lichtempfindlich. Kühl lagern. Unverträglich mit starken Basen, starken Oxidationsmitteln, Magnesium, Kalium, Kalzium, Natriumoxiden, Aluminium, Zink und Alkalimetallen.
