Bromomethyl methyl ether is used as reagent for protection of OH groups as their methoxymethyl (MOM) ethers. It is used in enantiocontrolled synthesis of intermediate containing carbons 18 to 35 of the macrocyclic immunosuppressant FK-506. It was used in the synthesis of 1-methoxymethyl-4-tritylthio-2-azetidinone.

Anwendungen
Bromomethylether wird als Reagenz zum Schutz von OH-Gruppen als Methoxymethyl (MOM)-Ether verwendet. Es wird bei der enantiokontrollierten Synthese von mittelhaltigen Kohlenwasserstoffen 18 bis 35 zum makromyclischen Immunsuppressiva FK-506 verwendet. Es wurde bei der Synthese von 1-Methoxymethyl-4-tritylthio-2-azetidinon verwendet.

Löslichkeit
Kaum lösliches in Wasser.

Hinweise
Feuchtigkeitsempfindlich. Bei 4 °C lagern. Nicht zusammen mit Säuren lagern. Nicht in der Nähe von Wasser und starken Basen lagern. Nicht kompatibel mit Säuren, Basen, Feuchtigkeit, Wärme und Oxidationsmitteln.
