Beschreibung
Castor oil is used in food additives, flavorings, candy and as a mold inhibitor. Its derivatives are used in the production of soaps, lubricants, hydraulic and brake fluids, paints, coatings, lithium grease and cold resistant plastics. It finds application in waxes, polishes, nylon, pharmaceuticals and perfumes. It is involved in the preparation of linoleic acids by dehydration, 2-octanol, sebacic acid and undecylenic acid, which is a precursor for polymer nylon 11 and heptanal. It is involved in the preparation of 12-hydroxystearic acid by hydrogenation and saponification. It is useful as a lubricant in jet, diesel, and racing engine. Further, it is used as a laxative.

AnwendungenRizinusöl wird in Lebensmittelzusatzstoffen, Aromastoffen, Süßigkeiten und als Schimmelhemmer verwendet. Die Derivate werden in der Herstellung von Seifen, Schmierstoffen, Hydraulik- und Bremsflüssigkeiten, Farben, Beschichtungen, Lithiumfett und kältebeständigen Kunststoffen eingesetzt. Es findet Anwendung in Wachsen, Polituren, Nylon, Pharmazeutika und Parfüm. Es ist an der Herstellung von Linolsäuren durch Dehydrierung von 2-Octanol, Sebacinsäure und Undecylensäure beteiligt, die ein Vorläufer für das Polymer Nylon-11 und Heptanal ist. Es ist an der Herstellung von 12-Hydroxystearinsäure durch Hydrierung und Verseifung beteiligt. Es ist ein nützlicher Schmierstoff für Kerosin-, Diesel- und Rennmotoren. Außerdem wird es als Abführmittel verwendet.
Löslichkeit
Mischbar mit Methanol, Diethylether, Chloroform, Eisessigsäure, Benzol und Kohlenstoffdisulfid. Unmischbar mit kaltem Wasser.
Hinweise
Lichtempfindlich. Nicht kompatibel mit starken Oxidationsmitteln, Säuren und Basen.
