Description

Diethyl malonate is used in organic synthesis for the preparation of alpha-aryl malonates, mono-substituted and di-substituted acetic acid, barbiturates and artificial flavorings. It is also involved in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals like chloroquine, butazolidin and barbital. It acts as intermediate in the synthesis of vitamin B1, vitamin B6, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents agrochemicals and perfumes. In Knoevenagel condensation reaction, it reacts with benzaldehyde to get diethyl benzylidenemalonate.

Anwendungen
Diethylmalonat wird in der organischen Synthese zur Herstellung von Alpha-Arylmalonaten, mono-substituierter und di-substituierter Essigsäure, Barbituraten und künstlichen Aromastoffen verwendet. Ist auch an der Synthese von Pharmazeutika wie Chloroquin, Butazolidin und Barbital beteiligt. Dient als Zwischenprodukt bei der Synthese von Vitamin B1, Vitamin B6, nicht steroidalen entzündungshemmenden Wirkstoffen Agrochemikalien und Parfüms. Bei Knoevenagel-Kondensationsreaktion reagiert es mit Benzaldehyd, wodurch Diethylbenzylidenemalonat entsteht.

Löslichkeit
Mischbar mit Ethylalkohol, Äther, Chloroform und Benzol. Leicht mit Wasser mischbar.

Hinweise
Nicht kompatibel mit Säuren, Basen, Oxidationsmitteln und Reduktionsmitteln.
