Anwendungen
(+/-)-Equol weist EC50-Werte von 200 und 74 nM für humanes ERα und ERβ auf und induziert die Zellproliferation von Brustkrebs in vitro bei Konzentrationen von bis zu 100 nM. Ist ein schwacher östrogener Agonist und wettbewerbsfähiger Inhibitor von 17β-Estradiol am Estradiol-Rezeptor. Hemmt die durch 12-O-Tetradecanoylphorbol13-Acetat (TPA) induzierte neoplastische Zelltransformation, indem es den MEK/ERK/p90RSK/Aktivator-Protein-1Signalweg anspricht. Funktioniert als DHT-Blocker.

Löslich in DMSO und Methanol oder 100 %igem Ethanol. Unlöslich in Wasser.
