Ethyl butyrate is used in flavors and fragrances. It is used as a solvent in perfumery products, and as a plasticizer for cellulose. It is used in the preparation of novel 2-cyanopyrimidines as cathespin K inhibitors. It is also used in the synthesis of pyridobenzimidazole derivatives exhibiting antifungal activity by the inhibition of β-1,6-glucan.

Anwendungen
Ethylbutyrat wird in Aromen und Duftstoffen verwendet. Wird als Lösungsmittel in Parfümerieprodukten und als Weichmacher für Cellulose verwendet. Wird bei der Herstellung neuartiger 2-Cyanopyrimidine als Cathespin K-Inhibitoren verwendet. Wird auch bei der Synthese von Pyridobenzimidazol-Derivaten verwendet, die durch die Hemmung von β-1,6-Glucan eine antimykotische Aktivität aufweisen.

Löslichkeit
Löslich in Propylenglycol, Paraffinöl und Kerosin.

Hinweise
Nicht kompatibel mit Oxidationsmitteln. In einem gut abgedichteten Behälter kühl und trocken lagern.
