Solvent for many polymers and resins, plasticisers, rubbers and textiles.Ethylene carbonate is used as a polar solvent and a high permittivity component of electrolytes in lithium batteries. It finds application in surface coatings, dyes, fibers and plastics. It is also used as a plasticizer and as a precursor to vinylene carbonate. Further, it is used in the preparation of dimethyl carbonate, which acts as a useful solvent and a mild methylating agent.

This Thermo Scientific Chemicals brand product was originally part of the Alfa Aesar product portfolio. Some documentation and label information may refer to the legacy brand. The original Alfa Aesar product / item code or SKU reference has not changed as a part of the brand transition to Thermo Scientific Chemicals.

Anwendungen
Lösungsmittel für viele Polymere und Harze, Weichmacher, Gummi und Textilien. Ethylencarbonat wird als polares Lösungsmittel und als Bestandteil mit hoher Dielektrizitätskonstante in Elektrolyten in Lithium-Batterien verwendet. Findet Anwendung in Oberflächenbeschichtungen, Farbstoffen, Fasern und Kunststoffen. Wird zudem als Weichmacher und als Vorstufe zu Vinylen-Carbonat verwendet. Darüber hinaus Verwendung bei der Herstellung von Dimethylcarbonat, das als hilfreiches Lösungsmittel und als mildes Methylierungsmittel dient.

Löslichkeit
Mischbar (40 %) mit Wasser, Ethanol Ethylacetat, Benzol und Chloroform. Löslich in Äther, n-Butanol und Tetrachlorkohlenstoff. Löslich in Wasser, n-Butanol, Ethylacetat, Benzol, Tetrachlorkohlenstoff, Äther und Chloroform. Nicht löslich in Benzin und Terpentinenöl.

Hinweise
Nicht verträglich mit starken Oxidationsmitteln, Säuren, Basen und Reduktionsmitteln. Kühl lagern.
