Der 1997 genehmigte Verhaltenskodex besagt: Wenn Leitungswasser für die Augenspülung nicht ohne weiteres zur Verfügung steht, sollten mindestens 1 l steriles Wasser oder sterile normale 0,9 %-Kochsalzlösung in versiegelten Einwegbehältern bereitgestellt werden.
