Glycerol triacetate is used as a food additive and as a solvent in flavorings. It acts as an excipient in pharmaceutical products where it is used as a humectant and a plasticizer. It is also used as a fuel additive, as an antiknock agent, adhesives and sealant chemicals, fillers, intermediates and process regulators.

Glycerintriacetat wird als Lebensmittelzusatzstoff und als Lösungsmittel in Aromastoffen verwendet. Dient als Hilfsstoff in pharmazeutischen Produkten, wo es als Feuchthaltemittel und Weichmacher verwendet wird. Wird auch als Kraftstoffzusatz, als Antiklopfmittel, für Klebstoffe und Dichtungsmittel, Füllstoffe, Zwischenprodukte und Prozessregler verwendet.
Löslichkeit
Leicht mischbar mit Wasser, Tetrachlorkohlenstoff und Carbondisulfid. Mischbar mit Aceton, Ethanol, Benzol und Chloroform.
Hinweise
Wärmeempfindlich. Nicht kompatibel mit starken Oxidationsmitteln.
