Anwendungen
Glykolsäure wird zur Behandlung von Akne und Falten verwendet. Sie wird auch in der Textilindustrie als Färbe- und Gerbmittel eingesetzt. Sie wird in Emulsionspolymeren, Lösungsmitteln und Additiven für Tinte und Farben verwendet. Sie ist auch als Zwischenprodukt für die organische Synthese wie Redoxreaktionen, Veresterung und Langkettenpolymerisation nützlich. Sie dient als Monomer bei der Herstellung von Polyglykolsäure und anderen biokompatiblen Copolymeren. Darüber hinaus wird sie als Konservierungs- und Aromastoff in der organischen Synthese verwendet. Sie wird auch in Klebstoffen und Kunststoffen verwendet.

Löslichkeit
Löslich in Wasser, Methanol, Diethylether, Aceton, Essigsäure und Ethylacetat.
