L-(+)-Arabinose wird zur Identifizierung und Differenzierung und Charakterisierung von Pentose-Zucker-Isomerase verwendet. Wird auch als Kohlenstoffquelle in der mikrobiellen Kultur verwendet. Ist an der Bioproduktion von L-Ribose beteiligt. Findet Anwendung in der Produktion von herzhaften Reaktionsaromen. Die Derivate werden bei der Entwicklung von antiviralen Wirkstoffen wie Nukleosid eingesetzt. Dient als Basiskomponente von Hemicellulose und Pektin.

Löslichkeit
Löslich in Wasser und Glycerin. Unlöslich in Alkohol.
