Lanthanum chloride solutions are used in various water treatment applications. Lanthanum chloride is also used in biochemical research. Doped with cerium, it is applied as a scintillator material. In organic synthesis, lanthanum trichloride functions as a mild lewis acid. This compound is used in gamma detectors.

Anwendungen
Lanthanchlorid-Lösungen werden in verschiedenen Anwendungen der Wasseraufbereitung eingesetzt. Lanthanchlorid wird auch in der biochemischen Forschung verwendet. Mit Cer dotiert, wird es als Szintillationsmaterial verwendet. Bei der organischen Synthese fungiert Lanthantrichlorid als milde Lewis-Säure. Diese Verbindung wird in Gammadetektoren verwendet.

Löslich in Ethanol und Wasser.
