Description

Magnesium sulfate is applied in replacement therapy for hypomagnesemia. It can be used orally as a laxative to relieve occasional constipation, and to treat low levels of magnesium. It works by replacing magnesium in the body and increasing water in the intestines. It is the first-line antiarrhythmic agent for torsades de pointes in cardiac arrest under the 2005 ECC guidelines and for managing quinidine-induced arrhythmias. It is effective in decreasing the risk that pre-eclampsia progresses to eclampsia.

Anwendungen
Magnesiumsulfat wird bei der Ersatztherapie für Hypomagnesiämie angewendet. Es kann oral als Abführmittel verwendet werden, um gelegentliche Verstopfung zu lindern, und um niedrige Magnesiumkonzentrationen zu behandeln. Es funktioniert, indem es Magnesium im Körper ersetzt und Wasser im Darm erhöht. Es ist das Mittel der Wahl bei Torsade de Pointes bei Herzstillstand gemäß den 2005 ECC-Richtlinien und für die Behandlung von chinidininduzierten Arrhythmien. Es verringert das Risiko des Fortschreitens von Präeklampsie zu Eklampsie.

Löslichkeit
Vollständig mit Wasser mischbar. Löslich in Alkohol, Äther (11.6 mg/ml bei 18 °C) und Glycerin. Unlöslich in Aceton.
