Description
Manganese(IV) oxide is suitable for use in batteries. It is widely used for the selective oxidation of allylic and benzylic alcohols to aldehydes or ketones, as a co-oxidant in combination with 1,4-benzoquinone and in the allylic oxidation of olefins catalyzed by Palladium(II) acetate. It acts a reagent for oxidations. It is the source of manganese and all its compounds, largely used in manufacturing of manganese steel, for making amethyst glass, decolorizing glass, painting on porcelain, faience and majolica. The precipitate is used in electrotechnics, pigments, browning gun barrels, drier for paints and varnishes, printing and dyeing textiles.

Anwendungen
Mangan(IV)-oxid ist für den Einsatz in Batterien geeignet. Es wird häufig für die selektive Oxidation von allylischen und benzylischen Alkoholen zu Aldehyden oder Ketonen verwendet, als Co-Oxidationsmittel in Kombination mit 1,4-Benzochinon und bei der allylischen Oxidation von Olefinen, die von Palladium(II)-acetat katalysiert werden. Es fungiert als Reagenz für Oxidationen. Es ist die Quelle von Mangan und all seiner Verbindungen, die hauptsächlich bei der Herstellung von Manganstahl, bei der Herstellung von Amethystglas, der Entfärbung von Glas, der Bemalung von Porzellan, Fayence und Majolika verwendet werden. Der Niederschlag wird in der Elektrotechnik, Pigmenten, Brünierung von Gewehrläufen, Trocknern für Farben und Lacke, Druck- und Färbetextilien eingesetzt.

Unlöslich in Wasser.
Hinweise
Bei Raumtemperatur lagern. Kühl lagern. Behälter an einem trockenen und gut belüfteten Ort dicht verschlossen halten. Nicht kompatibel mit starken Oxidationsmitteln.
