Beschreibung
Oleyl alcohol is used in softening and lubrication of textile fabrics, and in the production of carbon paper, stencil paper, and printing ink. It finds application in cosmetic products viz skin creams and lotions as a thickner, hair conditioners and hair coating shampoos. It is utilized as an antifoaming agent and cutting lubricant, as the precursor for the preparation of its sulfuric ester derivatives, which are used in detergents and wetting agents. It plays a vital role in various formulations for drug delivery.

Oleylalkohol wird für die Enthärtung und Schmierung von Textilgewebe sowie für die Herstellung von Kohlenstoffpapier, Schablonenpapier und Druckfarbe verwendet. Findet Anwendung in kosmetischen Produkten, d. h. Hautcremes und Lotionen als Verdicker, Haaraufbereiter und Haarbeschichtungsshampoos. Wird als Entschäumungsmittel und Schneidschmiermittel verwendet, als Vorstufe für die Herstellung der Schwefelesterderivate, die in Detergenzien und Netzmitteln verwendet werden. Spielt eine entscheidende Rolle in verschiedenen Formulierungen für die Arzneimittelverabreichung.
Löslichkeit
Mischbar mit Alkohol und Ether. Leicht mischbar mit Tetrachlorkohlenstoff. Nicht mit Wasser mischbar.
Hinweise
Nicht kompatibel mit Oxidationsmitteln und starken Säuren.
