n-Pentane is used in consumer merchandise such as spot lifters/cleaners and foaming shave gels and in commercial products such as a blowing agent for expanded polystyrene (foam) insulation. It may also be used as a solvent (in pure form) in laboratory, chemical analysis, and other settings where a highly volatile non-polar solvent is needed.

This Thermo Scientific Chemicals brand product was originally part of the Alfa Aesar product portfolio. Some documentation and label information may refer to the legacy brand. Anwendungen
N-Pentan kommt in Konsumgütern wie Fleckenentfernern/Reinigern und Rasierschaumgelen sowie in handelsüblichen Produkten wie Treibmitteln für die Isolierung mit expandiertem Polystyrol (Styropor) zum Einsatz. Kann auch (in reiner Form) als Lösungsmittel im Labor, bei chemischen Analysen und in anderen Umgebungen verwendet werden, in denen ein hochgradig flüchtiges, unpolares Lösungsmittel erforderlich ist.

Mit Wasser mischbar.

Hinweise
Stabil bei normaler Umgebungstemperatur und vorgeschriebenen Lagerungs- und Handhabungsbedingungen. Zu vermeiden sind Wärmeeinwirkung, Funkenflug, offenes Feuer und Oxidationsmittel.
