Platinum, 0.5% on 2.7-3.3mm (0.11-0.13in) alumina pellets is used for selective hydrogenations. It is also used in gas purifications, especially oxidation of carbon monoxide to carbon dioxide and hydrogen removal from oxygen or carbon dioxide.
