Anwendungen
Die Hauptanwendung von Kaliumchlorid ist die Herstellung von Düngemitteln. In der Medizin wird es für den Elektrolytausgleich und als pharmazeutisches Präparat zur Behandlung von Hypokaliämie, einem Zustand, bei dem der Kaliumspiegel im Blut zu niedrig ist, verwendet. Desweiteren findet es Verwendung als Flussmittel beim Schweißen und Metallguss. Es ist nützlich als Wasserenthärter, für bestimmte Enteisungsprodukte und zur Kalibrierung von Strahlungsüberwachungsgeräten. Es findet Verwendung als Scotophor in Dark-Trace-CRTs.

Frei löslich in Ethanol. Schwer löslich in Alkohol. Unlöslich im Äther.
