Potassium sulfate is used in the production of fertilizers (i.e. providing potassium and sulfur), potassium alum, potassium carbonate and glass. In analytical chemistry, it is used in the determination of nitrogen by the Kjeldahl method and protein in foodstuffs. Also, it is used in the electrostatic effects on pKa values of amino acid residues in the staphylococcal nuclease. It is used in the separation of protein through electrophoresis and also serves as a laboratory reagent.

Kaliumsulfat wird bei der Herstellung von Düngemitteln (d. H. Kalium und Schwefel), Kaliumalaun, Kaliumcarbonat und Glas verwendet. In der analytischen Chemie wird es bei der Bestimmung von Stickstoff durch die Kjeldahl-Methode und Proteinen in Lebensmitteln verwendet. Außerdem wird es für die elektrostatische Wirkung von Aminosäureresten in der Staphylokokken-Nuklease auf den pKa-Wert verwendet. Es wird bei der Trennung von Proteinen durch Elektrophorese verwendet und dient auch als Laborreagenz.
Löslichkeit
Löslich in Wasser und Glycerin. Unlöslich in Alkohol, Acetat und Kohlenstoffdisulfid.
Hinweise
Nicht kompatibel mit starken Oxidationsmitteln.
