Potassium thiocyanate is used in the preparation of ethylenesulfide, lead thiocyante, which is used in the conversion of acyl chloride to thiocyanates. It is also used in solid state NMR of heavy-metal nuclei which results in the preparation of several mercury-thiocyanate and selenocyanate compounds as potential models. It finds application in cosmetic and personal care product formulations as a skin conditioning agent. It is also used in moisturizers and oral care products.

Anwendungen
Kaliumthiocyanat wird bei der Herstellung von Ethylensulfid und Bleithiocyanat, das bei der Umwandlung von Acylchlorid zu Thiocyanaten genutzt wird, verwendet. Es wird auch in der Festkörper-NMR von Schwermetallkernen verwendet, was in der Herstellung mehrerer Quecksilber-Thiocyanat- und Selenocyanatverbindungen als potenzielle Modelle mündet.
