Photoinitiator für die Polymerisation von PAGE Gelen. Riboflavin wird zur Herstellung von Flavinmononukleotid (FMN) und Flavin-Adenin-Dinukleotid (FAD) verwendet. Bietet auch Schutz gegen oxidative Schäden. Es wird auch als Lebensmittelfarbstoff und als Vitamin verwendet. Wird auch als Medikament, Tierfutterzusatz und Nahrungsergänzung eingesetzt. Darüber hinaus wird es als Aromastoff eingesetzt.
