Decreases calcium release from intracellular stores. Inhibits histone deacetylase.Sodium butyrate is used in the treatment of human spinal muscular atrophy patients. Further, it is used in the determination of the role of histone acetylation in chromatin structure and function.

Anwendungen
Verringert die Kalziumfreisetzung aus intrazellulären Speichern. Hemmt die Histon-Deacetylase. Natriumbutyrat wird zur Behandlung von Patienten mit humaner Wirbelsäulenatrophie verwendet. Darüber hinaus Verwendung bei der Bestimmung der Rolle der Histon-Acetylierung in Struktur und Funktion von Chromatin.

Löslichkeit
Löslich in Wasser, Dimethylsulfoxid und Ethanol. Unlöslich im Äther.

Hinweise
Nicht kompatibel mit starken Oxidationsmitteln.
