Sodium sulfate decahydrate is used as a laboratory reagent to precipitate protein. It is largely used as filler in powdered home laundry detergents. It facilitates in leveling, reducing negative charges on fibers, thereby allows dye to penetrate evenly. It avoids the corrosion of stainless steel vessels used in dyeing. It is also used as a laxative and effectively replaces the drug paracetamol in the body.

Anwendungen
Natriumsulfat-Decahydrat wird als Laborreagenz zur Fällung von Protein verwendet. Es wird hauptsächlich als Füllstoff in Waschmitteln in Pulverform verwendet. Es erleichtert die Nivellierung, reduziert negative Ladungen auf Fasern und ermöglicht so ein gleichmäßiges Eindringen von Farbstoff. Es verhindert die Korrosion von Edelstahlbehältern, die beim Färben verwendet werden. Es wird auch als Abführmittel verwendet und ersetzt effektiv das Medikament Paracetamol im Körper.

Löslichkeit
Löslich in Wasser und Glycerin. Unlöslich in Ethanol und Methanol.

Hinweise
Stabil. Nicht kompatibel mit starken Säuren, Aluminium und Magnesium.
