Description

Wird gemäß als Redox-Titrationsmittel verwendet ASTM D-1159-Standards. Natriumthiosulfat, 0,1 M, Chem-Lab ist eine Lösung von 24,8148 g Na 2 S 2 O 3 ·5H 2 O pro 1L H 2 O. Es ist eine anorganische Verbindung mit einer ausgezeichneten Haltbarkeit für den Einsatz in der Iodometrie, insbesondere zur Chlorbestimmung.

Das Thiosulfat-Anion reagiert stöchiometrisch mit Jod in wässriger Lösung. Aufgrund des quantitativen Charakters dieser Reaktion wird Natriumthiosulfat als Redoxtitrant in der volumetrischen Analyse verwendet und ist Bestandteil von Jodzählexperimenten. Es kann zur Messung des Sauerstoffgehalts von Wasser und zur Abschätzung der Konzentration bestimmter Verbindungen in Lösungen (Wasserstoffperoxid, Chlor) verwendet werden. Es kommt auch in der Medizin zum Einsatz.
