Eine thermostabile DNA-Polymerase, die für PCR, RT-PCR, DNA-Sequenzierung und DNA-Markierung verwendet wird.

Taq Polymerase katalysiert die oligonukleotide Primer-gesteuerte, von DNA-Templates abhängige Einbindung von dNTPs in DNA-Komplementärstränge. Sie zeigt sowohl 5' bis 3' Polymerase- als auch Exonuklease-Aktivitäten.

Einheiten-Definition: Eine Einheit integriert 10 nmol der gesamten dNTPs in säureausfällbare DNA in 30 min bei 74°C.
