tert-Butyl nitrite is employed as a reagent for diazotization and nitrosation of alcohols, thiols, amines and cycloalkanes. It plays an important role in photocatalyzed conversion of aryl and heteroarylamines to selenides. It finds application in the preparation of aryl azides from aryl amines. It is also useful for radical multifunctionalization reactions of aliphatic alkenes and source of nitric oxide.

Anwendungen
Tert-Butylnitrit wird als Reagenz zur Diazoisierung und Nitrosierung von Alkoholen, Thiolen, Aminen und Cycloalkanen eingesetzt. Es spielt eine wichtige Rolle bei der photokatalytischen Umwandlung von Arylaminen und Heteroarylaminen in Selenide. Es findet Anwendung in der Vorbereitung von Arylaziden aus Arylaminen. Es ist auch für radikale multifunktionalisierende Reaktionen aliphatischer Alkene und als Stickstoffmonoxidquelle nützlich.

Löslichkeit
Mischbar mit Diethylether, Chloroform, Alkohol und Kohlenstoff-Disulfid. Leicht mit Wasser mischbar. Nicht mischbar mit Glycerin.

Hinweise
Lichtempfindlich. Kühl lagern. Nicht kompatibel mit starken Reduktionsmitteln, pulverförmigen Metallen und starken Säuren.
