Anwendungen
Uracil wird durch Hydrolyse von Nukleinsäure hergestellt und in der biochemischen Forschung verwendet. Es dient als allosterischer Regler und Koenzym für Reaktionen im menschlichen Körper und in Pflanzen. Es reagiert mit Fluor, um 5-Fluoruracil zu erhalten, das ein Krebsmedikament ist. Darüber hinaus wird es in der Arzneimittelverabreichung und in Pharmazeutika verwendet. Zudem wird es zur Synthese von Koffein und zur Bestimmung mikrobieller Kontamination von Tomaten eingesetzt.

Löslichkeit
Löslich in Wasser, wässrigem Ammoniak, 1M-Natriumhydroxidlösung und Alkalien. Unlöslich in Ethanol und Äther.

Hinweise
Nicht kompatibel mit Wasser, Luft und starken Oxidationsmitteln.
