1-Chloro-2-iodobenzene is used as a precursor and involved in the preparation of 2,2'-dichloro-biphenyl. It is also used to prepare N,N-diaryl-o-phenylenediamines and 4(5)-(2-chlorophenyl)-1H-imidazole. It reacts with lanthanum metal in the presence of trimethylchlorosilane to prepare 1-chloro-2-trimethylsilylbenzene.

Anwendungen
1-Chlor-2-iodbenzol wird als Vorstufe verwendet und ist an der Herstellung von 2,2′-Dichlor-biphenyl beteiligt. Es wird auch bei der Herstellung von N,N-Diaryl-o-phenylendiamin und 4 (5)-(2-Chlorphenyl)-1H-imidazol verwendet. Es reagiert mit Lanthan in Gegenwart von Trimethylchlorosilan zur Herstellung von 1-Chlor-2-trimethylsilylbenzol.

Löslichkeit
Mischbar mit den meisten gängigen organischen Lösungsmitteln. Nicht mit Wasser mischbar.

Hinweise
Lichtempfindlich. Nicht kompatibel mit starken Oxidationsmitteln, starken Säuren und Basen. Kühl lagern. Den Behälter dicht verschlossen halten.
