2,6-Di-tert-butyl-4-methylphenol is used as an antioxidant for cosmetics, vitamins, pharmaceuticals, rubber, oils and fats. It is used as a fuel additive in the petroleum industry and also used in hydraulic fluids, turbine and gear oils and jet fuels. It acts as a stabilizer in diethyl ether, tetrahydrofuran and other laboratory chemicals to prevent peroxide formation. It is effectively involved as a polymerization inhibitor in the process of oxidation of allyl alcohol to glycerine. It is utilized in the synthesis of organoaluminum compound, methylaluminum bis(2,6-di-tert-butyl-4-alkylphenoxide.

2,6-Di-tert-butyl-4-methylphenol wird als Antioxidans für Kosmetika, Vitamine, Pharmazeutika, Gummi, Öle und Fette verwendet. Es wird als Kraftstoffzusatz in der Mineralölindustrie und auch in Hydraulikflüssigkeiten, Turbinen- und Getriebeölen und Treibstoffen verwendet. Es wirkt als Stabilisator in Diethylether, Tetrahydrofuran und anderen Laborchemikalien, um die Bildung von Peroxiden zu verhindern. Sie ist als Polymerisationshemmer effektiv an der Oxidation von Allylalkohol zu Glycerin beteiligt. Es wird bei der Synthese von Organoaluminiumverbindungen, Methylaluminium Bis(2,6-Di-tert-butyl-4-alkylphenoxid verwendet.
Löslichkeit
Löslich in Methanol, Toluol, Isopropanol, Methylethylketon, Aceton, Benzol, Petrolether und Ethanol. Unlöslich in Wasser.
Hinweise
Lichtempfindlich. Halten Sie den Behälter an einem kühlen, trockenen und gut belüfteten Ort fest verschlossen. Nicht kompatibel mit sauren Chloriden, sauren Anhydriden, Oxidationsmitteln, Basen, Messing, Kupfer und Kupferlegierungen.
