3-Bromotoluene was used in the precise determination of bromine isotope ratio in organic compounds by MC-ICPMS ( Multicollector-Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometer). It undergoes palladium-catalyzed cyanation reaction in the presence of K4[Fe(CN)6] as the cyanide surrogate. It also undergoes palladium-catalyzed reaction with alkynyltriarylborates to yield trisubstituted alkenylboranes.

Anwendungen
3-Bromotoluol wurde zur präzisen Bestimmung des Isotopenverhältnisses von Brom in organischen Verbindungen durch MC-ICPMS (Multicollector-induktiv gekoppeltes Plasma-Massenspektrometer) verwendet. Es durchläuft eine Palladium-katalysierte Zyanationsreaktion in Gegenwart von K4[Fe(CN)6] als Zyanid-Ersatz. Es wird auch einer Palladium-katalysierten Reaktion mit Alkynyltriarylboraten unterzogen, um trisubstituierte Alkenylborane zu erhalten.
