In cosmetics industry it is used as antistatic agent, hair conditioning and skin conditioning. L-Leucine acts as a nutrient signal to stimulate protein synthesis. It has also activates the mammalian target of rapamycin kinase that regulates cell growth. Leucine has been used as a molecular marker in the recovery of DNA from paleontological samples for PCR analysis.

Anwendungen
In der Kosmetikindustrie wird es als Antistatikmittel, Haarpflege und Hautpflege eingesetzt. L-Leucin dient als Nährstoffsignal zur Anregung der Proteinsynthese. Sie hat auch das Säugetierziel der Rapamycin-Kinase aktiviert, welches das Zellwachstum reguliert. Leucin wurde als molekularer Marker bei der DNA-Rückgewinnung aus paläontologischen Proben für die PCR-Analyse verwendet.

Löslichkeit
Wasserlöslich. Löslich in 1 M HCl (100 mg/ml), Wasser (24.3 mg/ml), Essigsäure (10.9 mg/ml) und Alkohol. Unlöslich im Äther.
