Ideal für Leukozyten, Biopsiegewebe, zahlreiche normale und transformierte Zelltypen von Mensch und Ratte sowie für anspruchsvolle primäre und kontinuierliche Zelllinien

McCoy's Medien wurden ursprünglich für das Wachstum und die Unterstützung menschlicher Lymphozyten formuliert. Die 5A-Modifikation entstand als Reformulierung von McCoy's durch Hsu und Kellogg. Es wurde dann weiter von Iwakata und Grace modifiziert und enthält nun höhere Konzentrationen an i-Inositol und Glukose. Durch diese letzte Modifizierung entsteht ein Medium, das mit RPMI 1629 identisch ist. McCoy's 5A Medien unterstützen die unbestimmte Vermehrung von Walker 256 Karzinomzellen.
