n-Propyl4-hydroxybenzoat wird als antimikrobielles Konservierungsmittel in Pharmazeutika, Lebensmitteln, Kosmetika und Shampoos verwendet. Es wird häufig als Konservierungsmittel in Körperpflegeprodukten wie Cremes, Lotionen und Badeprodukten verwendet. Außerdem wird es als Lebensmittelzusatzstoff eingesetzt. Sein Derivat, Natriumpropyl-p-hydroxybenzoat, wird als Anti-Pilz-Konservierungsmittel verwendet.

Löslichkeit
Löslich in Propylenglycol, Ethanol, Äther, Aceton, Methanol und Dimethylsulfoxid. Schwer löslich in Glycerin. Unlöslich in Wasser.

Hinweise
Nicht kompatibel mit starken Oxidationsmitteln, starken Basen und Alkalimetallen.
